Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week With The BBC
Did you catch us on BBC Midlands evening news and BBC Radio Coventry and Warwickshire this week? As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we were delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate and highlight the importance of our twelve apprentices, who represent over 10% of our workforce.
The BBC television and radio production teams visited us at our premises, and also filmed on site at a customer’s property, to capture the importance of the scheme in practice. Two of the team, Beth and Will, were joined by Lincoln Smith and the BBC presenters to talk about the advantages of the scheme and working for Custom Heat.
At Custom Heat, we pride ourselves in developing and building a well-trained and hard-working team of highly skilled people. Which is why we are passionate about nurturing new talent as part of the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme.
Working with apprentices enables us to instil our values and high standards of customer service and work ethic by investing in training and developing plumbing and heating engineers on the scheme. Apprenticeships are also close to the heart of our Managing Director Lincoln Smith, who started his career as an apprentice himself.
By learning on the job, our apprentices develop and hone practical skills, learning from our highly experienced qualified engineers in real-life situations. Perhaps even more importantly, they are guaranteed a career pathway and employment once qualified, and we are guaranteed an engineer who has truly learned from the best. Not to mention that once employed, our team enjoys a wealth of incredible employee benefits to ensure we continually recognise their value.
