Rugby residents struggling to keep their appliances running safely to keep them warm this winter are being offered a lifeline by a heating and plumbing business.

Custom Heat, a Rugby-based provider of heating and hot water solutions, is set to launch its inaugural Winter Warmth Campaign to help keep people safe and warm as winter bites.

The company, which has been running since the 1980s, said they felt they had to step in to help after reports by its engineers of many households unable to heat their homes, keep their appliances serviced and safe or even able to heat water.

They decided to put together a campaign to run throughout February and March to support those most in need during the cost-of-living crisis and who were unable to pay for basic appliance maintenance such as boiler and radiator servicing.

Lincoln Smith, Custom Heat’s Managing Director said: “We were shocked to hear this news and think it is a real problem, not just in the Rugby area but across the country. Safety and basic regular maintenance of things such as boiler services play a huge role in keeping people warm, and some we have heard of haven’t been able to do this for years. So we knew we had to step in and help in the best way we could.”

The Winter Warmth Campaign will be running from Friday, February 1 until Sunday, 31st March 2024 and is an embodiment of the company’s determination to make a positive impact by ensuring that as many people as possible in the community have access to a warm and safe home.

The Winter Warmth Campaign Works by members of the community nominating individuals or families in Rugby who are facing financial struggles, making it difficult for them to service their boilers or radiators and keep their homes warm and safe.

Custom Heat’s team of skilled engineers will then prioritise these nominations, providing essential heating and hot water services to those in need, for free.

Mr Smith said: “There are no strings attached to this offer, but we do urge people only to nominate those in need. We will be dedicating one of our engineers to this campaign throughout the month, so they will only have a certain number of calendar appointments available. So we do ask that people are respectful of this.”

The campaign will be open to Rugby residents within the CV postcodes CV21, CV22 and CV23 and they can either apply using the online booking system or by calling one of Custom Heat’s advisors on 01788 568752.

Mr Smith added: “The Winter Warmth Campaign is our way of giving back to the Coventry community and addressing the pressing needs of our neighbours during these challenging times.”
